Big Canoe is an 8,000-acre private community in the Blue Ridge Mountains. All wedding events will be held inside these gates. To be granted access inside, you will use your confirmed RSVP.

When you pull into Big Canoe, you'll arrive at the main gate to be checked in. You'll tell them you're here for Shelby and Chris' wedding. They will find your name on our confirmed RSVP list. If you did not RSVP yes, you will not be granted access inside. You'll be given a map of Big Canoe and a pass for the weekend. If you'd like a hiking trail map, you can ask for one of those as well. As a disclaimer, even with a map and GPS, these mountain roads can be very confusing. You might likely get lost. We still get lost sometimes, and we come here all of the time (lol).

Yes! The dress code is cocktail attire for the welcome party and formal attire for the wedding. COCKTAIL WELCOME PARTY: think party ready elegance. Dressy and stylish, but not as formal. For the ladies: Knee length, tea-length, or midi dresses. For the men: Suit or dressy blazer, or a dress shirt and nice pants. FORMAL WEDDING: think garden party evening elegance. Polished, dressy, and sophisticated. For the ladies: floor length or midi dresses. For the men: Suits, or a crisp dress shirt with a tie or bow tie. WHAT TO AVOID: casual fabrics (cotton dresses or denim), Short dresses or shorts, sneakers or casual shoes. Please avoid colors that are traditionally reserved for the bride such as whites, ivories, and creams.

Although we love your little ones, we regretfully will not accommodate children at our wedding. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and hope you that will see this as an opportunity to let your hair down and enjoy the party with us!

If you received a plus one, your guest's name will be listed on your invitation and will appear with your name when you RSVP. Otherwise, due to a limited guest count, we are unable to accommodate plus ones.

To RSVP, kindly visit the "RSVP" page on our website and fill out the online form. Make sure to enter your response by May 1st. Please do not RSVP yes unless you are absolutely, unequivocally sure that you will be attending. As we are paying per head, we ask that guests be respectful of this commitment. Emergencies aside, RSVPing yes, and then not attending is deeply discourteous. Please do not let this be the case.

If we do not receive your RSVP by May 1st, it will automatically be marked as "no". It is imperative that we provide our vendors with a final guest count within the time they have given. Thank you for understanding.

We'll miss you! Please don't feel any pressure or guilt if you're unable to attend. If that's the case, please promptly indicate "no" on your RSVP as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Our wedding with feature a top-shelf open bar (tab on us), and we hope you'll join us in truly enjoying the celebration. We encourage guests to stay in the mountains with us so you can celebrate without a concern for driving. A shuttle service will be available for guests departing the event, so you don't have to navigate the winding mountain roads back to your cabin. As a disclaimer, there are no police inside Big Canoe.

Once you enter the main gate, continue down wilderness parkway for about 1.5 miles. On the right side you'll come upon the clubhouse sign. Turn right onto Clubhouse Drive. The clubhouse has a designated parking lot. You should have no trouble finding a parking spot.

Yes! We will be hosting an optional welcome party the Friday before for the guests who plan to stay in the mountains for the whole weekend. If you're just planning to drive up for the main event, that is completely fine as well. If you're in the wedding party, your presence is required :)
